Koberstädter Waldmarathon

The Koberstädter Forest Marathon has been held annually since 1979 on the last Sunday in August in Egelsbach and is organized by the Athletics Department of SG Egelsbach. The event offers races over distances of 5 km, 10 km, and half marathon (21.1 km) in a scenic, gently hilly forest landscape. In addition to competitions for ambitious runners, there is also a Bambini race for children in the stadium. The family-friendly atmosphere and professional organization make the race a popular event in the region.

The Bambini race starts at 9:00 AM in the stadium and is for children up to nine years old, covering one stadium lap (400 m). Children receive a medal, certificate, and a gift. Along the route, there are refreshment stations with drinks and fruit approximately every 5 km. The event is part of the Hessian State Championships. A lead bicycle accompanies the fastest runner. Due to increased safety regulations, no marathon is offered. Registration for the Hessian Half Marathon Championships is separate. Courses are available for children, 5 km, 10 km, and half marathon; registration is open until August 22; bib number pickup begins on August 31 from 7:30 AM; participation in the Hessian Championships is possible.
