Race description
The GVG City Run Erftstadt is the largest running event in the region and takes place annually in September. It offers a special atmosphere for all running enthusiasts, from children to hobby runners to elite athletes. The main course over 10 km runs four times through the medieval old town and the castle park of Lechenich, lined by numerous spectators. Additionally, there are shorter distances for students, families, and companies, which start and end on a circular route at the marketplace in Erftstadt-Lechenich.

Additional information
The 10 km main race is also available as a relay race. There is a raffle for a hot air balloon ride for two people among all finishers of the 5 km, 10 km, or relay races. The course is designed so that runners pass the marketplace multiple times and can be cheered on by spectators. For the youngest runners, there is a 750-meter circular course, students run 2.5 km, and the family and company run covers 5 km (2 laps). The event is approved by the German Athletics Association and follows its guidelines.
