Essener Seelauf 2026

The Essen Seelauf is a traditional running event at Lake Baldeney in Essen. The 14.2 km course follows well-marked cycle paths and passes through the bird sanctuary. There are two refreshment stations, and the race starts at 10:00 a.m. The event is held in accordance with the guidelines of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and is open to runners with or without a DLV competition licence. Late registrations are possible up to one hour before the start, subject to availability.

Late registration is possible up to one hour before the start, with a late-entry fee of €3, payable in cash. Changes of registration are possible only until 30.09. by email to teamessen@gmx.de. Race numbers must be worn visibly on the chest. The use of technical devices such as smartphones with headphones is prohibited. The course is not measured by the DLV, but every kilometre is marked. The 14.2 km race is not measured by the DLV. There are two refreshment stations at km 5 and km 9.5, manual timekeeping, race numbers worn on the chest, parking at the Regattaturm, and changing rooms and showers in the Regattahaus.
