Race description
The Westenergie Marathon in Essen is a traditional race around the picturesque Baldeneysee. The event offers not only the classic marathon but also the Westenergie Seerunde, the AllbauTeamStaffel relay race, a mini-marathon for children, and a Walking Day. The course impresses with its scenic beauty and proximity to the lake shore, making the race a special experience for runners of all ages. The event is well organized and attracts numerous participants each year.

Additional information
Start and finish are at Seaside Beach at Baldeneysee. There is a paperless registration process via QR code on the event day. For children, there is a mini-marathon over 1.1 km with prizes and medals for all participants. Photobello offers race photos. The Walking Day routes feature various distances with beautiful lake views and also pass through the landscape protection area Heisinger Aue. The marathon is Germany's oldest continuously held marathon, with a flat, fast course, multiple race disciplines, and regional sponsorship. Results and certificates are available online.
