Westenergie Marathon

The Westenergie Marathon in Essen is a traditional race around the picturesque Baldeneysee. In addition to the classic marathon, the event offers the Westenergie Seerunde, the AllbauTeamStaffel, a mini-marathon for children, and a Walking Day. The course is known for its scenic beauty and proximity to the lakeshore, making the race a special experience for runners of all ages. The event is very well organized and attracts numerous participants every year.

The start and finish are at Seaside Beach on the Baldeneysee. Late registration on the event day is paperless and uses a QR code. Children can take part in a 1.1 km mini-marathon, with a prize and medals for all participants. Photobello offers race photos. The Walking Day routes include various distances with beautiful lake views and also pass through the Heisinger Aue nature conservation area. The marathon is Germany’s oldest continuously held marathon, with a flat, fast course, several race disciplines, and support for the region. Results and certificates are available online.
