Sparkassen SAARathon

The Sparkassen SAARathon 2026 takes place on 11 October in Saarbrücken and offers suitable challenges for runners of all ability levels. The flat, fast courses run along the Saar and offer wonderful views of Saarbrücken city and the varied surrounding area. In addition to the traditional 10 km Westspangenlauf, there is a new World Heritage Marathon, held for the third time, which takes runners as far as the Völklinger Hütte. The running event combines a sporting challenge with scenic beauty and regional culture.

The event includes several distances: marathon (with state championships), half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and 1 km schoolchildren’s race. The event is aimed at experienced runners and beginners.
