Sparkassen-Festungslauf

The Sparkassen Fortress Run in Königstein is a summer-evening running adventure at one of Europe’s most architecturally and historically significant hilltop fortresses. The challenging 9.4-kilometre main course climbs 470 metres, with the final kilometres running across the fortress plateau and offering magnificent views of Saxon Switzerland and the Elbe. Alongside the main race, there is a 7.7 km course, as well as a mini run and an inclusive run, each 1.2 km long, on the fortress plateau. The event has been established for over 20 years and offers a special atmosphere, with the awards ceremony at sunset in the fortress market square.

Race bib collection for the main races (9.4 km and 7.7 km) is at the start area by the Königstein Tourist Information Centre between 16:00 and 18:00. Race bibs for the mini run and inclusive run (1.2 km each) can be collected at the registration desk on the fortress plateau. The inclusive run is not wheelchair-accessible. The awards ceremony takes place in the fortress market square at sunset. Registration opens on 1 December 2025, including for the main races, children’s races and inclusive races.
