Sparkassen Alb Marathon Schwäbisch Gmünd

The Sparkassen Alb Marathon Schwäbisch Gmünd is a traditional ultramarathon that has been held annually since 1991 during golden October. The 50-kilometer course with 1,100 meters of elevation gain crosses the Three Imperial Mountains—Hohenstaufen, Rechberg and Stuifen—through breathtaking scenery. In addition to the main race, other events include the Alb Ultra at approx. 60 km, the 37 km Alb-Trail, a 25 km race, a 10 km run and walk, and a children’s race. The event offers a sporting spectacle for the whole family and a varied program including a talk, briefing and pasta party.

Start for all races (except the Alb-Trail) is on Schwerzerallee, level with the Großsporthalle. Event center at the Großsporthalle Schwäbisch Gmünd. Electronic timing using a transponder in the race number (no ChampionChip). A medal is included for races over 25 km; medals for other races can be ordered online for €5. Return transport by local and special buses is available to participants with a race number. Friday evening program includes a talk, briefing and pasta party (€7 contribution toward the meal).
