Race description

The Skatstadtmarathon Altenburg is a challenging running event taking place on June 13, 2026, in Altenburg. Participants can choose from various distances, including marathon, relay marathon, half marathon, 13.3 km run, fitness run, student and children's races, as well as walking events. The course leads through the historic city of Altenburg with diverse sections, including climbs in the city forest and along the Great Pond. The accompanying program offers not only a sporting challenge but also a variety of entertainment with music, a children's festival, and a lecture by running legend Uta Pippig.

Additional information

Race number pickup and late registration on June 12 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on the event day from 7:00 AM until 30 minutes before each start at 'Goldener Pflug'. Changing rooms, showers, and baggage storage are available on site. Extensive accompanying program with sports fair, lectures, live music, children's festival, and a big party on the event day. The marathon has a time limit of 6 hours and 30 minutes, with the turnaround point closing after 2 hours and 45 minutes for the second lap. Runner catering, medical support, cultural program, professional timing, collectible race bibs, drinks, hot meals, showers, event T-shirts (pre-order until March 31, 2026), and secure baggage storage.
