Mitteldeutscher Marathon

The Mitteldeutscher Marathon is a special running experience in the heart of Germany, connecting the Mitteldeutschland metropolitan region on a fast course between Leipzig and Halle (Saale). The classic marathon course, on which the first German marathon was held in 1925, runs from the Bach city of Leipzig to the cultural capital of Halle. In addition to the marathon, there are other events, including the Händellauf Half Marathon, the half-marathon relay, the 10 km run, 10 km walking and the Salzwirkerlauf. The event offers a varied programme and is suitable for runners of all ability levels.

Pacers are available for the marathon with target times of 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 and 4:15 hours. The race bib includes a Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund ticket for one free outward or return journey on event day between Halle and Leipzig in the relevant fare zones. Intermediate time limits must be met, otherwise runners will be disqualified. Race packs can be collected from various registration offices. Late entries and changes to registrations are possible. The event includes various running disciplines, starts in Halle and Leipzig, and offers a varied route through the Central German region, with villages, forests and floodplain landscapes.
