Holzlandlauf

The Holzlandlauf is a long-running race in the Holzland region near Hermsdorf, held annually on the second Saturday in September. From 2026, the race will be part of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), giving the courses international recognition and making runners’ performances visible worldwide. The event offers several distances, including 5 km, 11 km and a half marathon, through the beautiful natural surroundings of the Holzland. It welcomes both ambitious trail runners and recreational runners and offers a special atmosphere in the region.

Registration is handled through Laufservice Jena, with payment by SEPA direct debit. Late registration is available on race day until 9:30 a.m. Starts are staggered, with the first start at 8:30 a.m. at the Werner-Seelenbinder-Sporthalle in Hermsdorf. In 2025, the courses were rerouted onto alternative paths because of logging, resulting in longer distances. Courses: 800 m, 1.6 km, 11 km, half marathon, walking/Nordic walking; refreshment stations; medals and certificates; no participation with dogs except assistance dogs; no political or discriminatory advertising.
