Race description
The Holzlandlauf is a traditional race in the Holzland near Hermsdorf, held annually on the second Saturday in September. Starting in 2026, the race will be part of the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), which grants the courses international recognition and makes the athletes' performances visible worldwide. The event offers various distances, including 5 km, 11 km, and a half marathon, passing through the beautiful nature of the Holzland. The race is suitable for both ambitious trail runners and hobby runners and provides a special atmosphere in the region.

Additional information
Registration is via Laufservice Jena with SEPA direct debit. On race day, late registrations are accepted until 9:30 AM. Start times are staggered, with the first start at 8:30 AM at Werner-Seelenbinder-Sporthalle in Hermsdorf. In 2025, the routes were relocated due to timber harvesting, resulting in longer distances. Available distances include 800 m, 1.6 km, 11 km, half marathon, walking/nordic walking; refreshment stations; medals and certificates; no participation with dogs except assistance dogs; no political or discriminatory advertising.
