The race starts at Gut Rietberg, passing historic buildings and through the city center, continuing along the Ems River to the Gartenschau grounds. The route leads through atmospheric locations with multiple exchange points for relay runners and ends in the Holter Forest at the Hunting Lodge to Holte, which provides an impressive backdrop for the finish line.
