Braunsteichlauf Weißwasser

The Braunsteichlauf Weißwasser is a traditional race held at the end of the running season, taking participants through the Braunsteich nature reserve. A particular highlight is crossing the Braunsteich on the wooden Braunsteich Bridge, which offers a picturesque view across the water. The event is for all ages, from children to seniors, who enjoy running and walking. The race is part of the Dresden District Rankings and the Niederlausitz Cup, and is officially recognized by the German Athletics Association in the walking category.

The 5 km and 10 km routes have three short sections on public roads, which have little traffic as they are residential cul-de-sacs. The rest of the route follows moderate forest paths, some of which are cross-country style. The race is open to all age groups, and walking is also officially recognized. Participant limit of 300–500; medals for finishers; registration on site or online; free showers and changing rooms available; integrated into regional athletics.
