Altra Sunset Wattenmeer

The Altra Sunset Wattenmeer is a unique team relay race taking place on August 29 and 30, 2026. The route covers approximately 250 kilometers through the impressive natural landscapes along the Elbe and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Wadden Sea National Park. The race starts in Hamburg on St. Pauli Hafenstraße and finishes in St. Peter-Ording, in the Bad district. Teams consist of 5 or 10 runners, each covering several stages, making the race a special shared experience.

Teams’ start times are assigned after registration closes, based on their reported average pace. Digital map materials will be provided to teams a few weeks before the event. Teams must arrange their own vehicles (teams of 10 need 2 vans; teams of 5 need 1 van). Runners born in 2010 or earlier are eligible to participate; for Ultra teams, the cutoff is 2008 or earlier. Team categories include gender-based and mixed teams. Registration is handled by a team captain, who manages the team members. The race comprises 30 stages, with running during both day and night and navigation using map materials; it starts in Hamburg and finishes in St. Peter-Ording. Teams from several countries may participate. Conditions include changeable weather and a sporting challenge.
