Race description
The Schneekopflauf is one of the most beautiful and challenging mountain races in Germany, held in the Thuringian Forest. The route runs from Schmiedefeld via Großer Finsterberg to Schneekopf and covers 12.7 and 22.2 kilometres, with plenty of climbs and elevation gain. This race is particularly suitable for experienced runners who want to test their limits. Since 2025, there has also been a Schneekopf hike for Nordic walkers and hikers, who are also rewarded with a medal at the summit.
